Seminar: Solving Two-Level Optimization Problems Related to Bell’s Theorem
In this talk I will summarize research of nonclassical properties of quantum entangled states. For this purpose we use a method, which employs both linear programming and nonlinear optimization. This method is used to calculate boundaries of classical description (local and realistic) of popular families of multi-particle quantum states.
A concept of transmission quality assurance in computer networks using the multi-agent system performing in a decentralized environment
As part of the seminar, The use of this type of system will allow obtaining a decentralized solution, i.e. one in which there is no central controller. An important issue in the above-mentioned approach is that the user pays for the transmission quality required by him, and this quality is guaranteed by continuous monitoring of network parameters and, if necessary, reconfiguration (change of currently used routes to adjust transmission parameters to the required quality). By applying market based pricing model, it is possible to dynamically determine prices of quality parameters.
Project H2020 - Secure and Safe Internet of Things (SerIoT)
January 1st 2018 IITiS PAN together with fourteen European partners starts project realization in H2020: Secure and Safe Internet of Things (SerIoT). Professor Erol Gelenbe is scientific coordinator of the project and IITiS PAN is coordinating institution. The presentation pertains to the issues relating to this project.
Quantum qubit switch: the level of entanglement
The quantum entanglement is considered as one of the most important notions of quantum computing. The entanglement is a feature of quantum systems and it is used as a basis for many quantum algorithms and protocols. In this presentation we analyze the level of entanglement for the quantum switch, during its work. The level of entanglement during the correct operating may be compared with the situation when a noise is present in the analyzed system. The noise changes the level of quantum entanglement and we utilize this observation to evaluate if the switch works properly.
Image and Video Processing with Tensor Methods
Classical methods for processing and analysis of multidimensional signals – such as color videos and hyperspectral images – do not exploit full information contained in inner their factors. On the other hand, recently developed tensor based methods allow for data representation and analysis which directly account for data multidimensionality. Examples can be found in many applications such as face recognition, image synthesis, video analysis, surveillance systems, sensor networks, data stream analysis, marketing and medical data analysis, to name a few.
Seminar: Committee Scoring Rules: Theory and Experiments
In this presentation, I will discuss a number of issues related to the problem of selecting a group of candidates (referred to as the committee). Committee elections have applications ranging from shortlisting, through the issue of finding items to present on a store's website, to parliamentary elections (or, on a smaller scale, the problem of choosing the electors at a university). I will show simulation results for a number of multiwinner rules and discuss these rules' computational complexity and axiomatic properties.
Information theoretic limitations on quantum key repeaters
The seminar will be devoted to results of http://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms7908. A major application of quantum communication is the distribution of entangled particles for use in quantum key distribution.
