The EuroHPC PL project is designed to support scientific research by building and providing access to computing resources. This will enable large-scale computations that fall directly within the framework of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (JU)—that is, a European system of exascale supercomputers built using technologies developed in Europe. Among other things, this will enable simulations, the analysis of large scientific datasets, and advanced visualizations, which are essential tools in scientific research. The EuroHPC PL project is the Polish component of the EuroHPC JU infrastructure.
The project will provide specialized infrastructure to address research challenges that are critical to Polish society, the scientific community, and the economy, by:
- providing access to hybrid computing infrastructure: supercomputers, quantum and neuromorphic accelerators, and dedicated services.
- research and innovation that adapt research problems and software to the capabilities of exascale supercomputers and modern computing architectures.
Specific tasks will be carried out within four laboratories:
- Laboratory for Modeling and Parallel Data Processing in a Pre-Exascale Environment
- Hybrid Computing Applications Laboratory
- Laboratory for the Application of Supercomputers in Medicine
- HPC Software Energy Efficiency and Computational Performance Laboratory
The result of this project will be an IB that enables scientists and businesses to conduct large-scale simulations and analyses to address contemporary socioeconomic challenges, which will lead to increased innovation and the growth of the Polish economy.
The project will be carried out from 2021 to 2023 by a consortium of seven research institutions, led by the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.
